Spa at home with Olay

Olay Lilies and Lambs

Thank you, Olay, for sponsoring this post. As always, opinions are 100% my own.

Ever since becoming a mom I’ve found that I need to pay more and more attention to my skin. Part of it might just be that- sigh- no one is getting younger around here. But a large part is the everyday stressors: like lack of sleep, work, the changing seasons and, if we’re being honest some emotional stress that take its toll- leaving my skin dry and in need of a little recharge. And yet, now that I am a work-at-home-mom, the time I have to venture out for a facial is few and far between. So when Olay asked me to test out their new Olay Clay Stick Masks for a facial at home, I had to see what they were all about.

I chose the Fresh Reset mask, formulated with Pemium Kaolin clay that micro-exfoliates to remove skin-dulling impurities. I love the ease and efficiency of the Olay Fresh Reset Clay Stick Mask- there’s no mess; and it’s formulated with glycerin, a powerful skin hydrator, which provides moisture while removing impurities, so there’s no icky tight feeling. And the best part? It’s stick application can be used in conjunction with the other Olay clay masks for multi-masking at home. Oh, and Maddie loved it, too.

Here are a few tried and true steps for some spa time at home:

Five Steps to spa-ing at home

  1. Set the Ambience

Whenever I feel like adding a little zen to my day, I fill my diffuser with some calming oils- I love lavender or frankincense- and turn on some of my favorite tunes. Typically, this includes Van Morrison or the Beatles. Listening to my favorite songs and breathing in a relaxing scent help instantly set the tone at home.

  2. Invest in a Cozy Robe

Running around all day can be exhausting; so when I take a few moments to myself to relax and reboot I like to get out of the day’s clothes and slip into a cozy robe. Putting it on instantly makes me feel like I’ve entered a different, more relaxing space. And if I’m feeling really indulgent I let it warm in the dryer for a minute or two.

  3. Slice up Some Cucumbers

I don’t know about you mamas out there, but my eyes are prone to feeling a little, er, tired since entering motherhood. I’ve found a few eye masks that are great for depuffing- but some can be a bit pricey. I like to slice up a chilled cucumber and place on my eyes when spa-ing at home- they feel refreshing and work well to de-puff and reduce swelling. Have a few left over? Add to ice cold water with lemon for some homemade spa water.

  4. Multi-Mask

Time is precious these days- so when treating myself to an at home spa experience I look for easy, efficient products that are user-friendly. The Olay Clay Stick Masks can be found at your local Walmart and are perfect for at-home spa-ing- the easy stick applicator allows you to target the different benefits of all three masks by facial zone to multi-mask while relaxing. Being able to tackle more than one skin challenge allows for an easy, efficient spa experience at home to relieve the affects of skin stressors- such a stress, lack of sleep and dryness. And the colors are really pretty, too.

  5. Don’t Forget to Have Fun

It’s nice to get a few moments to yourself as a mom. But sometimes, it’s just not in the cards. When creating a spa at home experience, my girl is typically there. And she loves playing along with me. So laugh, dance and have fun; pour yourself some cucumber water and relax. If only for a few minutes.
