36 Hours in Rhode Island

Tiverton RI Moore House Lilies and Lambs

I found Moore House boutique stays where I find most of my favorite things these days- via Instagram. I instantly fell in love with their dreamy aesthetic; the tiny squares of their feed filled with bright, coastal living spaces punctuated with the most perfect blend of neutrals, vibrant greenery and classic, vintage finds.

As a native New Englander, there are few things my husband loves more than a coastal stay. So this past weekend we packed up our car and headed north to the small town of Tiverton, Rhode Island, where we would stay in the Moore family’s beautiful Quonset Hut. The “hut” is one of six restored homes by the Moore family; and it’s absolutely beautiful.

We enjoyed the property with our close friends and their daughter- and we easily could have added another small family or two to the mix. The house was spacious, while remaining cozy. The details of the property were charming and clever- a bunk bed complete with an old painters ladder, a dining room hutch made of a repurposed steel ladder; while remaining modern and functional- a Sonos in nearly every room, Apple TV’s, a fully stocked kitchen.

Our first full day was spent exploring the small town- grabbing a local coffee with a side of  famous PVDonuts, and picking up fresh lobsters for dinner. We drove along the coast, swooning over the crisp water, beautiful boats, and charming waterside cottages. We later enjoyed the outside fire pit and comfortable outdoor living space with friends and a few cocktails in the sun. For dinner, we opted to cook at home- as we typically do, now that there are kids in the mix. Lobsters and clams on the grill with a side of Rib Eye and all the veggies made for a  beautifully quiet, cozy {and delicious} evening in.

The next day we took a quick drive to nearby Newport before heading back home. It was only a 20 minute drive from the Quonset Hut- close enough to venture for lunch or a quick trip to the shops.  We perused our favorite Bowen’s Wharf, where we enjoyed brunch at the Wharf Pub and popped into a few shops {Kiel James Patrick and Monelle} before making the drive back to Connecticut.
